Hi,

I have never succeeded at performing a PrtSc operation on this notebook and
I would like to determine what is preventing the operation from working
properly.

SBS
1. Start, Run, Clipbrd --- My clipboard is empty.
2. Start, Programs, Accessories, WordPad --------- Word Pad is empty.
3. Start, Programs, iTunes -------- ITunes is displayed on my monitor
4. I press the PrtSc key on my keyboard
5. I click on WordPad and it opens
6. I position the cursor inside a WordPad document and right click ---the
paste command is not available.

Why didn't the PrtSc command captured the iTunes screen to my clipboard?

PrtSc should have captured the screen , have you tried to use Edit --> Paste
in Wordpad to do the pasting ?

Have you tried to paste the screen capture in to Paint or any other graphic
programs ?

You can also try using the command to capture the current active window by
using [ Alt + PrtSc ]

Dunno. Just tried it with iTunes on my machine and it pasted into
Wordpad just fine.

Have you tried using PrtSc for any other screen?

I have tried to use PrtSc many times and it doesn't work. I will go through
it again step-by-step:

1. Have illustration of how to remove shared document from the registry open
on PC Tools Website.
2 I press the PrtSc key llocated on back right of my keyboard
3. I open WordPad and click on Edit, Paste, nothing is pasted into WordPad.
4. I repeat usng Word as target, nothing is pasted into a Word document.
5. I repeat using Paint as target, nothing is pasted into Paint.

I don't believe anything is being captured into the clip board. How can I
verify PrtSc is installed and enabled. Where is the command sent when I
press the PrtSc key?

Alt PrtSc doesnot work either.

Thank you for replying to my post.

I have tried to use PrtSc several times with different subjects and targets,
on my notebook the PrtSc command does not capture anything.

Just a WAG, but a broken key? Some key-management software disabling the
key?

I agree, the problem could be the PrtSc key is physically impaired but my
guess is that the problem is caused by software. Isn't there a dignostic
routine in Windows XP Tool Kit that lets you go step-by-step and ID the
programs being accessed. Maybe the PrtSc routine is not ibeing found or is
corrupt? When I click Start, Help and Support, Tools, I see a link to
Advanced System Diagnostiics. Could it be there is a routine in there that
allows step-by-step tracing?

If you have a keyboard with an F-Lock key, you may have to engage it
before the Print Screen key will work.

Also if pasting to a newer version of an Office program that utilizes
the Office clipboard, open the Office program before doing your screenshot.

Thank you for responding to my post. I downloaded ScreenPrint32 and tried
Alt PrtSc and PrtSc -- it did not work. It seems nothing is being saved into
memeory. I wonder why? There must be a way to see what happens when I press
PrtSc key.

Hi Elmo,

I pressed each function key and found nothing to do with PrtSc .. operator
manual does not have any information about F-lock key.

I looked at a laptop and its PrtScrn button was not in blue, so that
should be a standard button. So I guess your problem is elsewhere.
Does the software you tried have an option to change the keys necessary
to save the screen capture? This could be helpful if you have software
blocking the PrtScrn button, or a hardware problem.
