Proxy server 127.0 without network

Something keeps inserting information for server 127.0 or something similar
and port 9022 into my settings for connections. However, I do not have or
want to use a proxy server for any thing. I am unsure where this information
is coming from because I do not enter it. I have stand alone PC no network
and a dialup connection to the Internet.

It if very frustrating to have something inserted into my connection options
without my knowledge. I googled the 127.00. whatever and was sent to a memo
on how this is a hoax but it does not tell me how to prevent it from
happening. I am at a loss and am tired of deleting this information.

Can anyone help me?

Do you have AVG anti virus software installed or AV software which
certifies your e-mail?

The IP address in question would be 127.0.0.1. This is commonly used by
virus scanning software and spam filters. Usually you just turn off the
mail scanning feature of the program in question.

Along with the other suggestions if you're using an internet "speed up
utility" of some type (they're usually just graphics and text compression
utilities and are effective though they don't really speed up anything and
they make the graphics abysmal) then you'd likely be using a proxy. If
you've installed an anonymous surfing application that would do that... What
have you got running in your notification area? Check there and see if one
of them is the culprit. Some, namely WebWasher for one that I know of,
ad-blocking applications also run you through a proxy on localhost
(127.0.0.1 as you've already been informed.)
