Proxy problem

When I connect to the Symantec website and click on some of the links--for
example, to the Online Store--I get Page unavailable messages. My ISP gave
me a proxy to use. Using the proxy, I can now surf the Symantec site with no
problems--but the Windows Update site no longer works. Can anyone explain
what is going on?
