Proxy {Ghost}

I have a client that is using dialup to an ISP. He gets a
connection but cannot pull-up any web pages, error "PAge
cannot be displayed" because the web browser (in the
lower corner) is attempting to find a Proxy Server. We
used to have one installed but have taken it offline and
have changed the GP to reflect the change that a Proxy is
not needed. Also, I had him check his connection settings
in IE and "Use Proxy for LAN" is not checked off. So why
is it still trying to find a Proxy??? Please Help, and

Were you using microsoft proxy server? Did you install the client software
too?

No, just had it set in Group Policy with the proxy
settings so that all computers would have those settings.
But that has since been disabled.
