providing a customized logon window

Hi all,

I was asked to integrate a modal window that takes control of
the access to the machine depending on the results that I obtain
from the call to a web service. This would basically allow the user to
access the machine
in the same fashion of the windows logon.

Does anybody know where can I start looking at this?
