protection of cells

Hello my name is Dan and iam a supervisor for a company and we use Excel all
the time for our schedules but Iam a little lost ........ My problem is that
i was trying to protect the cells with in the schedule and I tried to protect
the word book and some thing happened I now can not get the sheet to
unprotect could anybody give a hand?
