Protection and row height

Greetings. I have a worksheet that contains some locked cells. The sheet
also has merged cells (yes i know BIG mistake, but due to inputs in above
rows, not much choice). I've copied the macros found on this site to Auto
fit row and columns w/protection, etc. All very good.

My problem. I want the user to be able to manually stretch the row height,
usually the text is copied and pasted into the cell, too many rows of text.
The row doesn't autofit to the text due to the amount that's pasted there.

When i go to protect the worksheet i select allow Format rows, Format
columns, but manually increase the row height. When i unprotect Format
rows/Format columns isn't checked?

Again, i want the user to be able manually increase row height on a
protected sheet. Thanks!

Your post is not clear to me. When I allow row formatting in the Protect
Sheet dialog then locked cells are protected and I can manually change row
heights. So what's the issue again?

Thanks Jim. You stated quite precisely. Strange very strange, i select
"protect", check Format columns, format rows in the 'allow' list, key in
password. Try to adjust row height, wont let me, i go into unprotect, back
into protect and the rows, columns boxes are unchecked. Quite frustrating
indeed. I appreciate you're trying to help me.

So we're doing the same thing and I can adjust rows heights and you can't.
There is something else going on I guess but I cannot think of what it can
be. I don't suppose there are any macros running that reset protection?
Sorry, no other ideas. If you open the workbook again and disable macros
you could check that out pretty quickly. Does this problem exist on other
machines? You could send me the workbook if you wanted. Clear all the data
out first if that's a concern.
