Protecting XP embedded: EWF - but which File System: NTFS or FAT32?

S

Scott Kelly

I have an Embedded XP device that will probably be turned off at some point
without having the system shutdown. I have read the post here regarding the
Enhanced Write Filter. I plan to use that, but until I do...

Does anyone know if FAT32 or NTFS will provide better protection of the file
system if power is turned off unexpectedly?

Thanks,
Scott

You protect partition, so used file system is not important.
Use FS which you like or need.

Slobodan,

Sorry. I meant to say that I have not yet used EWF. I have to seperate the
OS and my app better first. But in the meantime, I was wondering which is
better when not using EWF.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,

No I am sorry your first question was ok, but my interpretation was not.

NTFS should be better, but it can be corrupted too.

So if you are not using some too much complex applications, you should take
some time to use EWF.

Best regards,
Slobodan
