We have had a complete system failure after a hard reboot. We're trying to
reinstall Windows XP but have hit an warning message indicating that we may
lose contents of My docs if we continue. As My docs contains all our
unbacked up digital pictures of our baby we don't want to take the risk. Any
ideas on protecting the contents of My docs?

Hi Ann,

Without knowing the actual reason why you're trying to reinstall XP:

It appears that you're performing a clean install, rather than a repair. At any case, first I would backup the data by connecting the hard drive to another system (if you don't know the procedure, please have this done by an onsite technician). Once you backup your data to a removable media, proceed to repairing XP in the subject computer. Repair installation routine is explained in this page: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
