I want to delete a file called saaphook.dll It was part of a (free)
program that I downloaded and now even Pest Patrol can't remove it. When I
try to manually remove it I get the "Access Denied" message. I can't see
where I can "unprotect" the file either.

I have XP Home Edition SP2

Any suggestions?

If it isn't a spyware/malware issue: If the program that uses that file was installed, and
has NOT been uninstalled using Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs, then the file is
probably loading on Startup. A program or file that's loaded in memory can't be deleted
in the normal manner. Uninstall the program that uses that file with Control Panel/Add or
Remove Programs. If there for some reason you can't from there: Click the Start button,
click Run, type: msconfig then click the OK button. When the System Configuration Utility
opens click the Startup tab, find the program on the list, click to remove the checkmark
in the box to the left of that item, click the APPLY and OK buttons, reboot, and when the
message comes up that you have chosen Selective Startup, choose the option not to show
that message again. Then if there wasn't an uninstall routine, you should manually be
able to delete the files for that program because it won't be loading on Startup.
