I want to delete a file called saaphook.dll It was part of a (free)
program that I downloaded and now even Pest Patrol can't remove it. When I
try to manually remove it I get the "Access Denied" message. I can't see
where I can "unprotect" the file either.

I have XP Home Edition SP2

Any suggestions?

Hi Jackson - Tools such as AdAware and SpyBot S&D will sometimes find files
which they are unable to delete because they are in use. A program called
Copylock, here, http://noeld.com/programs.asp?cat=misc#CopyLock can aid in
the process of "replacing, moving, renaming or deleting one or many files
which are currently in use (e.g. system files like comctl32.dll, or
virus/trojan files.)" Another is Killbox, here:

A useful trick to try is to r-click and Rename. If you succeed in doing
that, then reboot and whatever loaded it will no longer find it. And you
should be able to delete the renamed version

Next level is a boot with F8 to the Menu and
Safe Mode - Command Prompt
Then in this DOS style access, use DOS style CD and DEL commands
