protected document loses all protection(hidden columns) when manually copy-pasted

Hi everyone,

This is my problem i have this file which has a lot of info on it and
obviously certain clients shouldn't see all the info in particular
columns thus i have protected the spreadsheet and the workbook so that
nobody can make changes to it, however i noticed recently that if I
manually copy all of the content from existing spreadsheet and export
it into a new spreadsheet voila! boom all my hidden info comes up here,
keep in mind the option for unhide is greyed out too on the protected
document.

could someone tell me whether this is a software glitch or is there
anything else perhaps i missed out on?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

See answer in microsoft.public.excel.

Please don't post the same message to different newsgroups. It tend to
fragment any answers you get, and potentially wastes the time of someone
answering a post that has already been answered.

See http://cpearson.com/excel/newposte.htm for tips on using these
groups effectively.

sorry will not happen again, also if i post a query in one group does
all the group users get it? hence the reason i posted it to multiple
groups.

As the link I sent explains, many groups are read by the same people, so
you're likely to get an answer by posting in only the most appropriate
one.

If you really don't know what group is most germane, then cross-posting
(putting two groups in the To: header) will allow the post to show up in
both groups, and both groups will see any replies.
