Protect Word Document to Prevent Selection or Highlight

Is it possible to lock a Word document in such a way that the end user cannot
even highlight or select words and characters?

This is obviously to prohibit the copy and paste function which might be
tempting the end user.

Thank you.

No! Any document you allow someone to see is theirs to do with as they wish.

Thank you for the reply.

That is a little silly, there should be an option.

If you can figure out how to do it, the media industry would reward you
beyond your wildest dreams. Truth is anything you can see or hear can be
duplicated.

Rajen,

Without fail, this topic comes up every year at our annual department
meeting. I'll share with you what I tell them:

To paraphrase a quote I saw over on the Adobe Acrobat boards many years
ago... "imagine the suprise when my company realized our super-duper
encrypted, restricted, and protected document could still be duplicated by
the end user by copying what they saw on the screen using pencil and paper."
:)

There is ALWAYS a way! Just yesterday I had to get into a seriously beefy
security-laden 8.1 PDF from a client (it included 20 pages of agonizing forms
we have to submit back to them - WHY would they dispable EVERY option?!).
Anyway, there may be some work involved, but I repeat, there is ALWAYS a way.

Cheers
