Dear Friends,

Is there a way to protect a drive against accidental formatting?

Thanks,
T.I.

You can not format Windows Windows drive from within Windows.
If the drive is formatted, it is hardly accidental with all the warnings
that need to be acknowledged.

It's not really possible to "accidentally" format a drive. Windows
always asks "Are you sure?" before proceeding.

Unless you're referring to a 2nd hard drive...then yes, it COULD be an
accident

Also...in Bruce's answer, you DO get a warning, but you're only given that
warning once.

So..the question still remains:
CAN a drive be "protected" from being formatted?
I ask also, because I DID accidentally reformat my 2nd drive several years
ago.

The only sure fire way to prevent a dill from formatting a disk when
they don't REALLY mean to is to remove the disk from the machine, and
bury it in the back yard. That will keep it safe!
