Prompt for Outgoing Account to Use

D

Dan

I do subcontracting for several companies as a Web developer.

Often I need to represent myself as a company different other than my
own. This includes sending email through a different Outlook account.

Typically, I click Options on an email and change the account to the
appropriate one. However, I frequently forget to do this. Thus, the
mail sends with my default company address---something that is not
supposed to happen.

Is there any way I can modify Outlook 2000 so that mail does not send
until I answer a prompt to choose the correct outgoing mail account?

If not, that's a product enhancment suggestion for Microsoft.
Definitely.

Thanks!
Dan

Hello, I had basically the same question you have. Fortunately, I found the following posting and it has worked remarkably well for me. You can set up a profile for each business' email account. You will have to check each account separately, but I have not been embarrased by sending email from the wrong account since I started using this method. Here is the posting

Set up separate mail profiles for each user. Close Outlook, then go t
Control Panel and double-click the Mail icon. There you can set up on
profile for each of the three users. Give each user its own Outloo
profile and attach each e-mail account only to its ow
profile. Finally, tell Outlook to prompt for a profile each time it starts
(You must close Outlook and restart it to switch between profiles.
