Promise PCI HD in XP Home

I just added a promise PCI controller card and a 120 Gig HD to my P4 1800
Clone. Intel D845 MB. This drive shows up in device manager but not in my
computer?
Any idea why this is happening?

Yeah, find the hard drive manufacturers website, download their disk drive
utility if it's an OEM drive, or use the supplied disk with the retail drive
you added and format the drive. Then it should show up correctly.
 
It was a used drive out of another computer that I already had backup files
on. I don't have a problem with reformatting it but since it has data why
would I need to??

another computer that had a non dos non fat32 (NTFS) partition and
your trying to read it with windows 98/me
