I am trying to set-up this controller with (2) Maxtor DiamondMax 9 80GB -
8mb cache drives in Windows XP and I can't seem to get the set-up program to
recognize the array. Promise does not have ANY xp drivers on thier web site
so I found version 2.0.0.18 dated Sept. 2001 and put them on a floppy. When
I begin installing XP I press F6 as prompted and it loads the drivers as
asked, but still no array found. As a cross-check, I have this array
recognized in Windows XP correctly using the same drivers (after WAY too
much work) as the proper 160GB (152 actual) single drive. My boot drive in
the latter set-up is a third DiamondMax 9 80GB using the onboard Primary IDE
on an Asus A7nX8 board. Anyone have or know of updtaed drivers or any other
advise??? And will I even see much of a difference in everyday use by using
the raid as my start-up disk?? And to ask one more question...if you had
these drives/controller YOU set them up.

(3) DiamondMax 80GB/8mb cache IDE (2 are 80gig platers/2 heads and 1 is a 3
head 60 or 68 GB platter)
(1) Western Digital 40GB 8mb cache

Did you mistype something there? As it stands it looks like you're
saying that you can't get it to work in XP but as a cross-check you got
it to work in XP and that doesn't make any sense.

Personally I would use one of the 80/2s for the boot partition and OS
installation and the other for the pagefile and use the other two
drives for data and whatnot.

I think he is saying he got the adapter to be recognized but the actual
array to be recognized. I have found though in personal experience that
this particular card wouldn't even keep working properly if you put it in
after windows xp has already been installed. It would have to be
reinstalled every few boots then it would work fine. I was however not
using the array function so can't really help there.
