I have a raptor HD (ata) installed on the SATA_RAID1 slot, for some reason
it wouldnt install on the SATA1 slot.
I do NOT have a RAID array setup. I tried to update with the Promise 378
ATA RAID driver update on the Asus site and BSOD! Safe mode and return to
last good config saved my life.
Should I be using the Promise 378 ATA driver (non raid) update? How does
one do this?? Thanks.
My win 2000 setop shows I have - Win2000 Promise SATA 378 tm IDE Controller-
that was installed from the dics I got with the MB.

I think you've answered your own question. Obviously you don't want a
RAID driver on a non-RAID setup. As well, consult the manual for the
correct BIOS setting (hint-not RAID).

Thanks - I just figured out that the Raptor in fact does work on the
Non-Promise (chipset) slot! Now the question is which is faster the ICH5
SATA150 slot or the Promise controller slot?? thanks again. ALSO, I have
turned off the Promise controller in the Bios - so I guess it makes no sense
to update the promise controller. Does Intel ever come out with a faster
update for itscontroller??
