Progress Bar on Rebooting, What Is It?

XP Home SP2

Let's say on rebooting, right after it says Building DMI Pool, a text-mode
progress bar appears at the bottom of the screen.

What's it doing when that progress bar is present?

This comes right before the black screen with the Win XP logo in the center
and the moving progress indicator.

It is fake bar. It means nothing.

Hi,

I haven't found a common glue as to which systems this happens on nor why.
Normally, this behavior is via a new install. Good luck and keep us posted.

It is there to give an opportunity to interrupt the normal boot process,
so as to take special actions (like loading extra drivers not in the
basic system during Setup). As often as not in a normal boot it does
not show up
