Progress bar has gone missing

At the bottom of a browser window there used to be a
progess bar, that would show how much of a page had
loaded, and alternately, if you moused over a link, what
the link was pointed to. If I recall correctly you could
also go quickly to the security settings. Anyway, this
bar has disappeared from my browser and I have no idea
how to get it back. Help me :) Thanks

Go to View and click Status Bar
