My Wife has a 3.6GHz Pentium4 with 2GB of memory on a ASUS P5AD2 Premium
Motherboard with two 200GB UIDE Hard drives in a mirror Raid. Running Windows
XP Pro SP2 with all current fixes installed, and PCi x16 X600 ATI Video card
running 6.4 catalist drivers. . . After being up for an hour or so it will
not load programs, you click on them and then nothing happens, But if you
have a program running it keeps running fine you can save files etc. . . but
you can't start something new even a control panel utility . . . save what
you are doing and reboot and everything is ok. She runs Norton Anti Virus
full scan every night it runs automatically but you can't start it???? She
also runs Spy sweeper and SpameaterPro4 . . . Any Ideas? We already replaced
her memory, ran checkdisk, System Mechanic, . . . It does not lock-up or give
any error messages it just refuses to load anything . . . I can load task
manager with Ctrl-Alt Delete and CPU and memory usages are minimal??? Run
MSCONFIG and Diagnostic start-up and it will also eventually not load
programs or utilities. . . I'm at a loss! ! !

Thanks for your assistance. BTW is this the correct forum?

Sounds like failing hard drives possibly from overheating. What is the
case temperature and are all fans working correctly?
