I have a link on my start/programs menu that i simply
cannot remove. when i right click and hit delete on it,
the pc does nothing but beep. when i go into documents
and settings/all users/start menu/programs and manually
try to delete it i get "cannot delete : cannot find
specified file". Ive even tried a registry edit to remove
any instances of this file, but it is still there sitting
on my menu.

Any ideas on how to remove this ?

Might help if you told us what it is.

Right click on the start button, and select explore. Navigate in Explorer
to the link that you want to remove. Bring up the properties list and make
sure the link itself is not a system, hidden, or read-only file. Select the
link, and hit the delete button.
