programs download but do not execute

When i download any new program such as itunes or limewire it appears that
everything has downloaded but then it will not open once it is completely
downloaded.

How are you trying to open them? You need to double-click on the
downloaded files. They don't execute automatically like it is on a CD.

Also, you can't install "some" programs on a XP system unless you are an
ADMINISTRATOR or user with these privileges.

So what happens when you try? What other music sharing programs besides
limewire have you installed?
