Programs don't recognize internet connection

MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Paltalk etc do not
recognize me being connected to the internet. I cannot log
in, because an error pops up. For example, the MSN
Messenger error is "There was a problem connecting you to
MSN Messenger. Click troubleshoot for help with this
problem." I click troubleshoot and it says "The
troubleshooter has determined that you may not have
internet connectivity. " Can somebody help me?

If you are at work, then there are probably firewall rules in place to restrict
access to those applications. If this is your computer check your firewall settings -
either hardware or software. --- Steve
