"Programs " (C\Programs) is opening at start-up. How can I stop

I have an Athlon XP1800 with Windows XP. I am using Earthlink Total Access
2005 browser and recently have had a problem with Google. It would open 2
pages, with one searching for "George Bush Is An Idiot". Eventually that
subsided but now when I startup, my "Programs" opens up a page. I've recently
installed some mouse software and Adobe. I don't think those would be the
cause but thought I'd mention it. Any way I can stop this? I have moderate
PC skills so I am not afraid to dig down deep if needed.

It's probably spyware. You can try cwschreader, and MSantispyware
