programing Symbol MK1100 MK2000 device

I am trying to develop some scanning piece of code using MK1100 device.
I have downloaded the SDK and samples from symbol, could someone let me
know if I can use any emulator or do i need to have the device to run
the sample. Any help in seting up dev environment is greatly
appreciated,

Emulators don't have laser scanners, etc. You'll certainly have to run the
code for those operations on real devices.
