I am trying to install anti-virus virus definition update
downloaded from web-site on windows 2000. The program
exits with a message "program too big to run" in the
command prompt. The definitions are about 4 MB in size.
Not just this file, other installs also give the same
message. This did not happen earlier. I have downloaded
some updates for windows from microsoft website prior to
this error message. I am using win2k with ie6.0
Any help?

Thanks & regards

This indicates that some executables are not recognized as win3
applications any longer. Windows tries to start them as 16-bit apps
For further research try to detect which processes windws tries t
start in an ntvdm.exe-context. Find these files on reference machin
and have look at the properties. The version information (ie produc
name) indicates which software bundle is damaged. Reinstall this bundl
and check NTFS for failures
