Hi All,

I'mm looking for a program that will show my publis IP address, which
seems to change quite often. Preferrably something that might sit in
the tray and show the IP address on hover.

My system is WinXP Home SP2. I've tried several programs and also the
Win IPCONFIG.EXE command, but they only show my internal IP, not the
public one. I can go to a web site that shows the public IP, but I
would rather have program, if possible.

Any ideas? TIA

still trying to figure how to configure my computer to be a ftp server

Get a copy of filezilla server. (Google for it, it is on sourceforge).

Works great, and I use it on my xp machine so I can send files to myself at
home.

I got it but have not installed it since my IP is dynamic

Filezilla client is great too

Check out http://www.dyndns.org.

You can define a name for your dynamic ip address. They also have links to
utility programs that run on your computer, and update automatically when your
machine's ip address changes.

They are free, and I've been using them for 2 or 3 years now. Makes it very
simple to connect to my home machine.

OK
as soon as I update all the available updates of the applications that I run to
keep my system secure
but I have been doing this everyday :-(
