Are you looking for a program to stop people from being able to
change/add/delete stuff in the folder or are you looking to encode
(scramble) the data so nosy people can not view, recover, or otherwise
access the files in them?

If it's encoding/scrambling you might want to look into TrueCrypt.

With it you can create encoded portions (or entire secondary drives) of your
hard drive, floppy, or CD, that you place folders/files into that others are
not able to access with out that area's matching password.

Microsoft's new Private Folder option might look good if you really trust
Microsoft to actually protect something their lawyers are not hovering
over...

Microsoft Private Folder is a useful tool for you to protect your private
data when your friends, colleagues, kids or other people share your PC or
account. With this tool, you will get one password protected folder called
My Private Folder in your account to save your personal files.

The following hardware and software are required to run Microsoft Private
Folder:
· Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Professional Edition and Media Center
Edition with SP2
· Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor

Just be a little careful in what you block/protect if you are using XP
Pro. I found that if XP cannot scan everything it wants to at startup
then System Restore becomes disabled. Don't ask me why but it does.

Hi.
If you want to lock your folders you probably won't like people to look
at their contents through the net or by people using dos access, so i
recommend Truecrypt.

It let u lock folders or entire drives, allow u to use keyfiles and/or
passwords, encrypt content with several algorythms, u can use it
through command line so u can run simple batch files for easy access
and u can create hidden crypted folders inside crypted folders (for
paranoid people). It's free, try it, ull like it.
