Program list under ALL PROGRAMS

E

Ed

Hi everyone,

Have a quick 'user' question here. I have an account set up for my son. The
account is a limited one.

The question here is 'Is there a way, to prevent him from seeing all of the
programs I have installed on the machine, if he clicks START===>All
PROGRAMS, while logged in under his account.

It's becoming a little unnerving to look over his shoulder, and see stuff
like 'Turbo Tax, Quicken, etc.' running.

Thanks in advance,

Ed

Ed,

You can remove programs from your son's menu by removing them from the 'All
Users' Start Menu, and placing them in your own. You can do this by going to
C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs. Cut out any folders
and paste in your start menu (C:\Document and Settings\Ed\Start
Menu\Programs) and copy into anyone else's who you would want to see it (a
spouse, for example, if they had a separate profile).

Your son will only see programs that are listed in either C:\Document and
Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs and :\Document and
Settings\*YourSonsNameHere*\Start Menu\Programs.

Hope this helps,
Jon

Yes and in addition to this great reply, you can also remove the run keys
from here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
