foldershare *IS* free. just like yahoo / hotmail email *IS* free. ;-)

Of course there is always "http://www.yousendit.com" if you need to send
large files.

Yes, I know, but getting rid of the number-of-files-limit will cost money...

I should have been more precise: what I am searching for is some kind of
P2P software where I can restrict access to a number of persons.

You can do that with foldershare, only limit they place on you is how many
files you can xfer at a time. realistically how many files are you planning
on xfering at once and how many people will have access to these files at
the same time. once you start getting into these upper limits then you
start getting badnwidth drain so by then it really won't matter.

If you are looking for a P2P type of thing
you could set up a direct connect hub from:
http://www.neo-modus.com/

It will run with your IP address + port 1090
as the address to connect to
Example "192.168.1.100:1090"

If you have a dynamic IP you can get an address from:
http://www.no-ip.com/index.php
Example "yourname.no-ip.info:1090"

Just update it with your IP each time you connect

Then only allow registered users connect to you
and you have a private P2P network!

Basic-which is the freeware- has NO for 'Download Your Files Via the Web-
I couldn't find any explanation for this at their website.
I wonder how the downloads are arranged?
