Program Freezes when importing mpegs

I can only import .avi files without a problem. Every time I try to import
an mpeg file, the program freezes up. I've tried deleting/removing the
program - but it regenerates itself automatically and I don't know if there
is a way to restore the program to its original state.

Any ideas?

Movie Maker doesn't support MPEG. You need to convert
your MPEG files to a supported format before you can
import them into MM. Converting to DV-AVI would probably
be your best bet to retain the highest quality.
