I have a file that when I try to Print Preview, it's
coming back with "EXCEL.exe has generated errors and will
be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the
program. An error log is being created." I'm able to
open other .xls files just fine.

Can someone help me identify what is causing the error
and/or where the error log is stored?

I'm running Excel 2000 (9.0.3821 SR-1) on Windows 2000 sp4.

Thanks!

Just some guesses.

Can you blame the printer driver? Maybe getting a fresh copy from the
manufacturer's site and uninstalling then installing the printer would help.

Can you blame the worksheet? Try copying the worksheet to another workbook.
Right click on the worksheet tab and select move or copy. Copy into a new
workbook and try printing from there.

Can you blame the cells on that worksheet? Create a new worksheet (maybe in a
new workbook). Select all the cells, copy. Then paste special|formulas,
followed by paste special|formats. (widen the columns or with xl2k+ one more
paste special|ColumnWidths).

If you get one of them to print, maybe you can kill the original worksheet and
put the copy in its place.

Dave,

Thanks for the suggestions. It turned out to be a font
called MUFFERAW that was the problem. I took your
suggestion of recreating the worksheet but as I made each
edit, saved the worksheet and tried the print preview
until it returned the error. That font works fine in MS
Word 2000 and didn't think that it would be an issue in MS
Excel 2000. Go figure.

Thanks again,
Mia
