Program does not download completely

Does anybody have any idea why I can't download this program?

It is an audio file containing some foreign language lessons.
It is 25.8 MB
File type: "Application"

When I click Download, I get the window with options to Save or Run. I click
Save (to My Desktop). It runs for awhile and then it stops before it reaches
the 25.8 MB. I've tried several times and gotten only between 14 to up to 24
MB. It then asks if I want to Run the download, but when I click "Yes", it
says: "The setup files are corrupted", please obtain a new copy of the
program".

This file is from a paid program, from which I have downloaded about 20
audio lessons on MP3 sound format, from between 10 and 20 MB each. It is the
last and also the largest one in the course. It seems to be different because
it's filed as "Application" instead of "Mp3 format", (Mozilla calls it
something else), and is the only one I can't download.

I contacted the vendor, who offered some suggestions that didn't work. I
really think there is something wrong with their site, but I am still waiting
on further response from them.

What I have done:
I tried downloading from AOL, Mozilla, and IE.
I tried downloading with my AV disabled.
I tried downloading in Safe Mode.
I tried downloading to my WD My Passport external HD.
I made sure there weren’t any programs open while downloading.
I cleaned temp files before trying to download again

Is there anything else I should try?

I use XP/SP3, AVG Free 8.5, IE 7, Mozilla 3.0 and AOL 9.0 Security Edition SE.

Thank you,

Thank you,

Since it is an application you're downloading, is it possible your
AV software is interfering ?

I'm sorry SCS, but this is a class course material and viewing is only
available to paying customers. I probably would get in trouble.

Hello,

In that case, try downloading it on another computer and see if it works
there. If it doesn't work there either, you can rule out a problem with the
computer and would be somewhere in the network transmission or hosting
server. If so, try downloading it on a computer with a different ISP such as
your home computer. If it doesn't work there as well, then it is most
probably a problem with the hosting company.

Hi, I just wanted to know what you think about this. I downloaded the file on
a different computer and it worked fine. I copied to a CD. But I can't open
the files in my computer. I keep getting the same message that the files are
corrupted.
Can you point me to what should I check next?

Thanks, Edith

Thank you SCS, I will save the links, and run the test later when I have
more time. I actually have more memory in my computer than the other computer
that worked. And that other one is not as well maintained as my mine is, as
it is used by my sons boys. They have tons of things donwloaded in it, while
I am very picky about what I put in mine.

I went back to the other computer and put the files in a flash drive. This
time I was able to transfer to my computer OK. It seems maybe their CD driver
may not be compatible with mine.

Any way, my computer will accept it from a flash drive, that rules out
something to do with security, also really, something to do with memory.

So why can I copy it from the flash drive, but not downlad it the from host
site.
What can possibly be preventing it.

Could it have something to do with my ISP?

Thank you,

Hello,

Still could be bad RAM.

If the CD is not compatible, you would not even be able to read it If the
file on the CD is unreadable, you will receive a notification of such a
problem.

If it is your ISP, you need to test it on another computer on the same
network.

Yes, you right about the compatability of the CD. My next step now then, will
be to try it on another computer with the same ISP. The one I tried uses a
different one.

I got my program now, but I'm still curious of why I couldn't download it in
my computer. Just in case it happens again sometime.

I appreciate you staying with me with this. Thanks a lot for your help.
