I am trying to color profile my Epson 1660 F/B scanner using the method
described in VS 8.0. Several tries give the same result; an overall
magenta cast in the grays.

I am using a Wolf Faust reflective target along with the text file for a
scanner with a white lid.

I have followed the instructions to the letter, without any additional
steps or changes to the VS menus.

Any suggestions on what to do?

Regards, John.

Did you let the scanner bulb warm up and stabilize for 20-30 minutes ?

The Grayscale in the target isn't necessarily neutral gray, especially when
viewed under a different lightsource than a 5000K color temperature one.

Have you tried the profile on other images?

You can also try profiling with a black backing, instead of the white lid.

The scanner was on for at least 30 min. Also I made several attempts.
Same result. Any other ideas?
