Hi,

I have lab with XP Pro on 15 laptops and XP Pro on 15 desktops, they are in
a computer lab and all logon with the same user account say labuser. It's a
Windows 2003 Standard edition on the server side. I do have AD running, I'd
like to be able to have desktops, mappings whatever there is to be identical
on all the desktops. Is there a way to do that? Also if someone moves say an
icon on the desktop or something will it go back to the original setup? Or
is there a third party program I need?

Thanks

If all laptops/desktops are the same hardware, set one of each up
perfectly the way you want and then image with Ghost or TrueImage.
Apply the images to all the other machines. You'll want to do this
anyway for easy restoration in a school setting.

As for the second part of your question, look into using Deep Freeze by
Faronics. This will do exactly what you want.

Hi,

Besides Malke's suggestion, I think you may need to use roaming profile.
Roaming user profiles allow users to wander among computers within the
corporate network. When using roaming user profiles, users can log on to
any computer that is running Windows XP within the user's domain. After
they log on, all of the user settings and documents they stored on the
server in the roaming user profile copy to the local computer.

For more detailed information, please refer to following article:
