Hello, i just started working at IT in a small office and
i have several questions with product keys.

1)I have a bunch of Windows XP licences each with their
own product key, I've been formating PCs and reinstaling
XP and I found out that there is only a limited amount of
times u can register a key, so i'm wondering if there is
a way to find out how many more times can a use a key.

2)Also I wonders if there even is the tiny chance that
there is a way to, "un-register" a product ID, so the
licence won't go obsolete and i can instal it on a
diferent pc, and not having it go to waste

thanks for your help

Hi, don't worry about the number of times they are registered/activated, just install them and if the installation doesn't activate, just phone Microsoft and get a new Product Key. You can only have one installation per licence though if you haven't bought volume licences.

Greetings --

There's no limit to the number of times you can reinstall and
activate the same WinXP license on the same PC. Nor is there ever a
charge. If it's been more than 120 days since you last activated
that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to activate via
the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you might have to
make a 5 minute phone call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:
