Trying to reload xp pro. can't find certificate with 25
didget product key. System is up. Can you tell me how to
locate the number on the system.

Go to www.aida32.hu and download AIDA32, the Enterprise version. It is free
and will tell you the key plus much more.

get the free Aida 32, enterprise edition from
http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32
which is an excellent general System Info tool, and its Software -
Licenses page will tell you the one used for Windows and ones for
several other items.

Note that if the machine came with XP installed, this will probably give
a key used in producing an original image, then cloned to all machines
they make. So it is not the one for a reinstall. But then the key will
be on a label on the case of the machine

I wasn't the original poster but I wanted to say thanks
and let people know this worked for me. I was able to
shift-F10 from the "enter key" screen, run aida32 (from 4
diskettes) and get the key. Now if XP will just finish
installing and run with the new motherboard I'm home
free...
