product key missing

I have updated my Windows XP Professional to re-install
some drivers from the original CD but do not have the
product key anymore (it might actually be stored in a
files on the hard disk) and so I am stuck in the process
where I am supposed to enter the key but can't.
What can I do?

1. The experts in this Newsgroup generally disparage the so-called "generic"
drivers that come with XP. Unless you have a compelling reason not to, you
should go to the website of the device manufacturer and download the
current, XP-compatible driver there.

Aida32 available from www.aida32.hu will give you the Key, if XP is still up
and running.
