When I try to log on to Excel or Word the Product Key Code
is requested. When I enter it, Microsoft tells me it is
the wrong key code. Any suggestions short of calling?

Common error is typing a the letter o instead of zero 0 or the letter.
Failing that try uninstalling and reinstalling
