I lost product ID for Windows XP software that I actually
purchased from Compaq for upgrading from Windows ME.
How can I recover the product ID?

If you mean the CD key, if Windows is still installed and you are able to
boot to it, try the tool at the following site:

Contact HP. Microsoft will not, does not and cannot assist with OEM
installations.

Yes, just talked to HP. They asked me to turn in serial
number for the PC. After that, they should be able to give
me product ID.
