It should be on a sticker attached to the case, usually on the back or on
the underside of a laptop if that is what you have.

It's actually called the product ID and you can see it at the bottom of the
screen when you right click Computer and select Properties.

dear Michael,

I have many times typed the code from underside of laptop and also but never
suceeded. Now I can just view xls and doc files.

This notebook was bought in mid June in one Bestbuy store near Chicago. I do
not have the reciept with me as I am in London for a month.

thanks a lot for your help. I may send you the code I can see.

Please don't send the code.

Be sure, however, of what you are typing. In the product code, sometimes a
"g" looks very similar to a "6" and be sure your are not using the the
number zero "0" for the letter "o" and visa versa. Also, be sure it is in
fact the product code as it is a 25 character code separated into 5
alpha-numeric groups. I mention this because sometimes other product codes
are mistaken for this code which is the product key.

If you still have problems, while in London, find a retailer that sells
laptops as they may be able to help you figure out the product key. If back
here, take it to Best Buy as I'm sure they'll be able to help you.
