product cd key

i bought a dell computer from a pawn shop loading the reinstall cd and now i
have to activate windows. I took it back to the pawn shop so that they could
give me the proper cd key, but of course they cannot help me. does anyone
out there have windows xp home edition product id number for a dell system

The proper CD key should be stuck on the machine.

If the proper OEM product key is not stuck on the machine, you *might* be
able to get it from Dell - as long as you have the serial number of the
system. Doubtful - but possible.

Otherwise - you need to purchase Windows XP.

The key should be on a sticker somewhere on the case.
