Product catalogue - should I use Word or Publisher?

I've been given a product catalogue to update that was put together in
Publisher. It's very out-of date, so I need to start from scratch. Question
is, should I use Publisher or Word? I get that feeling that if I use Word,
it will be easier to insert updates at various points in the catologue
(which needs to be done regularly, so update time must be minimised). I'm
assuming that Word would be better since I don't have to worry about
repagination which Word will look after. Because DTP packages tend to be
very page-oriented, I would guess that repagination would be more tricky.
The layout is very simple, I'm sure that Word will cope easily with it.

The reason I ask the question is because I'm reasonably familiar with Word
but know hardly anything about Publisher, so may have overlooked Publishers
abilities.

For the reasons that you mentioned, that (a) Word will handle repagination
more easily and (b) you are more familiar with Word, I would advise sticking
with Word. There are undoubtedly many ways in which Publisher would be more
suitable, but if you can accomplish what you need in a program you already
know how to use, your work will be more comfortable and efficient.

If you are using a lot of images and want to wrap text around them, it is a
lot easier to place the images and text because Publisher is page layout
software, so everything stays on the page, and its position is relative to
the page. This very fact, though, is what might make it more difficult to
add or delete material.
