I upgraded from a D820 to a D950 and didn't have to upgrade, but that doesn't
mean that you won't have to. Even if you have to re-activate though, it only
takes a moment over the web.

You might want to wait a while. Rumor has it Intel is going to have some
substantial price cuts last part of April. Don't know how long it will
take to filter down to the retail level.
