Processes not Ending

I run Windows XP.

Lately I have noticed that when I close a program normally the .exe line is
not removed from processes shown in Taskmanager.

This came to light when I opened Movie Maker and it said it was already open.

I have run Norton with all the updates and it does not seem to be a virus or
a trojan.

Can anyone help?
 
Be patient, it will be removed later. I suspect the reasoning is that
people frequently close a program, instead of just the file and then
REopen the program to look at the next file. IF the program was flushed
immediately upon being closed, then it would have to completely reload.
This saves the user time. And when the memory is needed elsewhere it is
released.
