Is there a way to set Excel to run at a specified priority, each time booted
up, or by file name? e.g.: above normal, or hi-priority thanks

Microsoft Windows XP - Start:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/start.mspx?mfr=true

or

Type in Start, Run:

CMD /K START /?

These are the Priority levels available.

- - - - -
LOW Start application in the IDLE priority class
NORMAL Start application in the NORMAL priority class
HIGH Start application in the HIGH priority class
REALTIME Start application in the REALTIME priority class
ABOVENORMAL Start application in the ABOVENORMAL priority class
BELOWNORMAL Start application in the BELOWNORMAL priority class

Hi, is there a file that would be updated for configuration (or a page /
subject I need to review to learn how to do?).. for e.g..: excel/ file
path? / file name? thanks

What exactly do you want to configure?

Hi, thanks, usually give more than enough info:
been busy trying to work excel file daily, doing things like clean icons
from desktop, reduce system themes to nothing (know about upgrading hardware,
just not quite there yet)

seems to be some improvement to keep large EXCEL file from crashing (working
on that too), by setting task manager priority to: Above Normal / High.

is there a way to set so when open excel, it is automatically set to Above
Normal / High... thanks

Yes. Create a batch file with the "Start" command-line to start Excel in the
required priority mode.
