PROBLEMS WITH WINDOWS INSTALLER

Just Me

I downloaded a program from Ebay and after installing it I noticed it
didn't have a uninstall. I used my add & remove program to uninstall the
program but not all of it got uninstalled. I deleted the folder and then
did a search in my registry for anything with refernce to the programs name
"Ebay's Blackthorne" and deleted all entries with that name.

Every time I reboot windows tries to install something for Blackthorne and I
have to keep cancelling it out. Does anyone know how I can fix this
problem?

Nice advice, NOT!!!!! you refer me to a utility that sounds like it will
cause more problems than I have now and this damn thing doesn't have a
uninstaller either... If you are going to suggest a utility you should know
what it does, if you had read my post you would have seen I was not liking a
program without a uninstall feature....

Remind me never to take your advice again

I guess you only read the first lines of that KB that George supplied. But you did not read the rest or the full article concerning the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility. It will probably solve your problem without affecting other installs.

I did install the utility and when I open the utility the problem program
doesn't even appear on the list that is in the box.

The one thing that concerns me is it says I may have to re-install all
programs that use the windows installer.

Maybe I over reacted out of frustration to George, for that I do apologize.

Can someone tell me what can I do with this utility if the program I'm
having problem with isn't listed???

Nothing, if the program isn't listed it didn't use the MS installer.
You need to root around more in the registry. Also try running this The
Windows XP Startup Programs Tracker from Kelly's site:

You downloaded a program from ebay and you can't uninstall it. WHAT PROGRAM?

Do you think if you give someone a clue, they may have run into the same
situation with the same program? Do you think that maybe someone may have
found a work around for this problem? I do - if you share the secret of what
the program IS! But is seems to be a poorly written program if it doesn't
have an uninstall routine.

Maybe all you have to do is delete the folder that the program created.
Again, since you won't say what the program is - no one knows!
