I am trying to setup VPN on a computer outside the company
network. I got the VPN setup but am having trouble setting
up the network paths to shared folders. The paths I have
are correct because I have used them on other computers
that have worked. I connect to the VPN without any
problems and then when I go to My Network Places and try
to add a network location it says the path is not correct
and to check it. I enter the path the correct wat
\\servername\sharedfoldersname and it tells me the path is
wrong, but it's worked on other computers. I have given
the user permission to access the server through VPN and I
have also gave the user permissions to each shared folder.
Can someone please help me. Thanks

Jon,

Have you tried using the IP address of the server instead of the name in
your path? Your remote PC will be getting it's DNS from the ISP if your VPN
is not set up to use DNS over the tunnel.
