problems with subtracting

here is what i'm trying to do......i have a beginning balance(300) and
have other cells with values like(25), (30), etc... what i'm trying t
do is subtract 300- 25-30(b2 through b5) and have b6 as the new total

No too sure I get the gist, but try

=A1-SUM(B2:B5)

Where A1 houses the 300
